Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of education aims to develop academic understanding, but ultimately, she wanted it to impact all of mankind. She believed the path to a peaceful world was through the education of children.

At Towles, we incorporate Dr. Montessori’s Peace education principles focusing on developing interpersonal skills needed to be a good member of a thriving community. Our middle school students in New Tech focus learning on solving real world problems through collaboration. They learn to use effective communication and healthy ways to work through conflict.

To honor Dr. Montessori’s devotion to Peace Education, each year Towles recognizes the United Nation’s International Day of Peace. Students learn about the idea of peace not exclusively applying to warring nations. We learn how Peace applies to our community, school, and to each individual.

We learn that, “ Peace begins with me!”

On September 21, Towles students participated in a Silent Peace Walk and gathered together in our school courtyard around our Peace Pole to show our commitment to creating a Peaceful Community.
